Nolte Residence

A rural couple, owners a 3,000 acre farming operation and parents to five beagles, desired to build their country dream home on family ground located directly on a bucolic, country highway.  They desired that the house reflect their interests in Victorian architecture, while maintaining all the modern conveniences, and offer views of the Omaha skyline from a second-story master bedroom sitting area.  Originally designed as a brick Victorian house, the brick gave way to soft yellow lapped siding (vinyl) and white trim while maintaining a brick base and fireplace and a few Victorian flourishes.  A sweeping arched porch roof and arched, custom designed transom windows at the front entry punctuate the front of the house.  A second story Palladian window spills light into the front entry hall, which is flanked by interior borrow-light windows.  The house sits nestled up against an existing stand of windbreak trees set back from the highway and presents a face that is both formal yet informal, stately yet welcoming, with a touch of fancy.  A classic “Rooster” weather vane is perched atop the front facing gable welcoming one-and-all.
