Placzek Residence

Located in the Omaha residential neighborhood of Regency, this project is a true collaboration between artist and architect involving an extensive house remodel, addition and complete house transformation.  The owners originally desired to expand their existing kitchen, provide a light-filled interior, design a better front entry element and emphasize connecting the inside with the outside.  Through the discovery of additional side-yard space, a hearth room was created adjacent to the kitchen, which allowed re-purposing the living room into a dining room.  On the interior, custom-designed cabinets and a specialty cabinet placed between kitchen and hearth room are richly stained.  A new overhead coffered ceiling with cove moldings and dark stained wood floors visually connect the spaces.  A fireplace and built-in cabinets with entertainment center invite the family to relax in the intimately scaled, light filled hearth room.  On the exterior, new design features and the use of stucco and board and batten siding completely transform the exterior of the house.  New landscaping out front and new landscape/patio area in the back with built-in planters and outdoor fireplace provide new spaces for outdoor living, aesthetic enjoyment and relaxation.
